Dopo decenni di rapide trasformazioni urbane, la Cina sta entrando in una nuova fase di sviluppo. Il concorso internazionale Future Shan-Shui City. Abitazioni nelle montagne di Lishui, promosso nell'aprile 2020 dal comune di Lishui (Zhejiang), è un caso esemplare di questa nuova tendenza. Tra i vincitori, il progetto Prosperous Lishui del Politecnico di Torino e della South China University of Technology esplora la possibilità di stabilire nuove relazioni tra aree urbane e rurali. Nell'ambito di questa strategia complessiva, the Design Units Architecture and Urban Space (AA 2020-2021) affrontano quattro temi principali: come organizzare i nuovi spazi per la produzione agricola, come abitare le aree montane, come organizzare il nuovo sistema di struttura e come preservare l'ambiente ecologico e culturale.

After decades of rapid urban transformations, China is now entering a new stage of development. The international competition Future Shan-Shui City. Dwellings in the Lishui Mountains, promoted in April 2020 by Lishui municipality (Zhejiang), is an exemplary case of this new trend. Among the winners, the project Prosperous Lishui by Politecnico di Torino and South China University of Technology explores the possibility of establishing new relations between urban and rural areas. Within the framework provided by this overall strategy, the Design Units Architecture and Urban Space (A.Y.s 2020-2021) addresses four main themes: how to organize the new spaces for agricultural production, how to inhabit the mountainous areas, how to arrange the new system of facility, and how to preserve the ecological and cultural environment.
